Contemporary portraiture
One of the most eye-catching and interesting images you can put on your walls is a large contemporary portrait of your child(ren), your spouse or partner or — shock, horror — even of yourself. And we are not talking about the standard school child-type portraits here; a contemporary portrait should be personal and evocative, it should hold the viewer's attention and pull them into the picture and demonstrate the sitter's character and personality.
Portraits such as these — and have a look at the Portfolio link for examples — can be taken in a studio, at your home or even at your office. Sometimes an outdoor location can be useful, this often being the case for teenage or older offspring.The end result will be an image which presents a very personal view of the subject, one which can flatter and show true-to-life character in the photograph.
Don't expect a portrait session to be quick. I take anything from an hour to half a day for a portrait and will also expect to work through the results with you to select the best images and the most suitable mounting, framing and position for them.
A huge amount of care and skill goes into the final image(s). These are meticulously prepared, gently retouched to give the optimal look and feel in the print and then printed and mounted by a professional laboratory for an archive-quality print which will last a lifetime. For the ultimate in quality, the final image can be hand-printed onto fine-art paper by a specialist using permanent pigment inks. The beauty and quality of these prints has to be seen to be believed.

Wedding photography
Photography of a wedding is often overlooked, frequently undervalued, but is a hugely important and lasting memory of this most important day. I am at the stage of life where I am going to Silver Wedding parties and even the occasional Golden Wedding — and, invariably, photograph albums are pulled out and dusted off and memories come flooding back for all concerned. The flowers will have died soon after the wedding, the children will be grown up and may have their own offspring but the photographs, provided that they have been taken by a professional, printed and mounted or displayed properly, will last a lifetime. and that's priceless. This is something that should only be undertaken by a qualified professional.
